We began supporting Nick from a case management perspective in 2018. Nick suffered a spinal cord injury and bilateral amputation of his lower limbs following a head-on collision on the A68 in County Durham. We became involved with Nick & his wife, Nikki in the very early stages of his recovery. Nick spent a long time in ICU & HDU before moving onto the spinal unit at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough for his inpatient rehabilitation. Olivia & the team at SICM supported Nick & his family finding a suitable rental property and instructing a full multidisciplinary team to begin working with him upon discharge.  We have also supported with all aspects of equipment provision and managing his 24-hour care package at home. Nick is an absolute inspiration! Despite his severe injuries, the trauma and ongoing health issues he continues to face today, he is always fighting and looking for a positive in every situation! He has made great progress over the years. Nick is now enjoying trips away in their adapted motorhome going to various festivals up and down the country! He is also waiting on his new property to be built, which will be adapted specifically for him. Nick is also in the process of publishing his first book and continues to arrange various challenges and fund-raising events to support The Great North Ambulance.
