Vocational case management after spinal cord injury

Depending on the severity of the clients injury it is not always possible for the client to return to the employment they had at the time of injury. If the client has the ability to return to their former position of employment then the CM will be able to liaise with the employer to assess if any adaptations to the workplace are required.

In more complex cases we may advise that a specialist Vocational Case manager may be required to assist in this process.

For those who are unable to return to their former employment, the Case Manager will explore vocational possibilites with the client once a full rehabilitation period has been completed and the client is ready to pursue this.

In some cases a large number of clients find it very difficult to return to any meaningful employment   due to their physical and psychological ability. Voluntary work maybe something the client wishes to pursue in these circumstances. The case manager will support the client with this choice.

Educational case management and needs after spinal cord injury

Clients can be injured at any age. Many of our clients may be at school or university at the time of acquiring their spinal injury. They may want to return to their studies as soon as possible. The Case Manager can liaise with the course coordinator or school to facilitate this return and advise if any adaptations are required within the educational establishment.
