SICM Ltd began supporting Ele from a case management perspective in 2022. Ele suffered a spinal cord injury, resulting in incomplete paraplegia following a road traffic accident. Olivia first met with Ele during her time on the spinal unit at James Cook University Hospital and together, they put a plan in place to ensure all Ele’s needs were met in preparation for her discharge. Ele was introduced to a specialist neuro physiotherapist and clinical psychologist.  Support was also offered around accommodation, property viewings and exploring suitable equipment to promote Ele’s independence. Ele purchased an all-terrain chair allowing her to get back on the beach again and attend her sons’ athletics games, something she loved to do before her accident.  

Over the past couple of years, Ele has worked very hard in all areas of her ongoing rehabilitation, and she has made fantastic progress. Although Ele has faced many challenges and setbacks along the way, she has always found ways to overcome obstacles and find solutions! Ele’s resilience, motivation and positive outlook is truly commendable.  Ele has and continues to be an absolute pleasure to support.
